Steroids: The Gift That Keeps on Giving

Steroid use has become a new fashion trend for avid gym goers, even though most would deny it, because taking steroids is still extremely taboo, illegal and dangerous to your health. But if it’s all in the name of looking good, why not risk your health just so you can remove your top at boat parties and have girls fawning over you?

In a society of instant everything, waiting for your muscles to develop naturally through hard work and proper nutrition seems like too much hassle. Taking drugs to bulk up seems to be the only logical step for some, and although I cannot deny that steroids do help to enhance muscle mass, it also comes with a few other perks you may not be aware of.

Develop Breasts

Instead of needing a girlfriend to be able to play with breasts, you will now have your very own pair to play with. Taking steroids can lead to gynecomastia, which is basically enlarged breast tissue in men. You might think that as soon as you stop taking the steroids everything will go back to normal but contrary to popular belief, the breast tissue that has developed from using steroids will not go away. No amount of dieting or chest exercises will help to get rid of your newly developed breasts. So learn to love them, and maybe Victoria’s Secret will open up a men’s wear line just for you in the near future.

Never Get Hard Again

What is the point to getting all the girls attention because of your big muscles, but not being able to do anything about it? One of the main side effects of taking steroids is erectile dysfunction. This is because the excess testosterone in the body reduces a man’s ability to make his own testosterone, which leads to a decrease in testosterone levels, and eventually erectile dysfunction. The sad part is that you usually won’t feel the effects until after you have finished using the steroids. So all along you will think things are fine, and when you’re ready to make a home run, your star player won’t be able to get off the bench to perform.

Although death might be a drawback for some, others will see the silver lining, at least you will look good in the casket. It may sound quite morbid, but this is the harsh reality for those that are illegally taking steroids. This is because taking steroids increases your risk of heart attacks, strokes, hypertension, increased levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) and lower levels of good cholesterol (HDL), liver disease and possibly liver cancer. But as I said before, at least this way you will definitely have no problems with an open casket.

Roid Rage

Probably not as serious as death, but roid rage is still a serious issue for those that take steroids. Taking steroids can make you irritable, rage filled, violent, and have false beliefs, which doesn’t make you a great candidate to have at social gatherings.

Painful Urination

Sometimes going to the bathroom can be quite a boring phenomenon, so why not make it an eventful experience by adding some pain to the equation. Taking steroids has been linked to painful and frequent urination. So if you want to make your bathroom trips more exciting, steroid use is the right way to go.

Hair Loss

While it might be true that some guys look sexy bald, like Jason Statham, Tyrese, Dwayne Johnson, Taye Diggs, Vin Diesel, Boris Kodjoe, and my personal favourite Morris Chestnut, do you really think you could fit into this category?

Taking steroids has been linked to severe hair loss, so if you believe that you are experiencing hair loss as a result of steroids use, it is advised that you stop using, because prolonged steroid use can lead to permanent baldness rather than temporary hair loss. The choice is yours.

So as you can see taking steroids does have some major drawbacks, you may believe that because you are only taking the drugs for a short period of time that you wont experience any side effects in the long run. But steroid use can become highly addictive, and although these drugs can be taken during a single occurrence, those that are taking the drug are typically trying to bulk up so they take doses that are 10 to 100 times higher than the dose a doctor would prescribe for medical problems, using different methods known as pyramiding, cycling, or stacking.

It is quite possible that the first couple of times you decide to try using steroids you won’t experience any of the negative side effects, but eventually with prolonged use you will, so ask yourself, is it really worth putting your body through that just to gain instant muscles?

Taking the time to develop your muscle mass naturally through exercise and proper nutrition is a lot more rewarding, healthier and comes with no hidden surprises.
