Why Exercise?

If you ever find yourself waking up and struggling to get out of bed, fighting to put a smile on your face, and not being able to wait until the working day is over just so you can crawl back into bed, starting a workout regime may be the best thing for you.

Exercise is usually one of those things that you either love or hate, but no matter your preference- it is definitely something that we all need to do.  Even if you despise the thought of getting up and going for a walk, keeping fit is essential to our overall wellbeing and is certainly something that needs to be a part of our daily lives.

Once you begin to exercise your body releases chemicals in your brain called endorphins which trigger a positive feeling in the body, making you happier, smile more, and leaving you with a lot more energy.  The days of dreading your alarm in the morning will be over, with increased energy levels and a happier outlook on life, starting the day will be no problem.

Even if you find that lately you have been under a lot of pressure at work, keeping active can help alleviate your stress, lifting weights, taking part in a yoga class or even going for a nice bike ride is a great way to help you deal with a stressful day.  Taking some time out to look after yourself will help to clear your mind and allow you to focus on whatever problems that may arise.

Exercise not only leaves you feeling happier but it will also leave you looking better too, if you find that in recent years the stress of work, the late night study sessions cramming for exams, or starting a family has lead to an increase in weight.  The best way to keep any excess weight off is simply through exercise.

Keeping your weight under control doesn’t only help with looking good but it is also important for several health reasons.  Increases in weight have been recognised as a contributing factor to the development of illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, and several others.  All of which plague our nations health care system- so keeping your weight under control is definitely an important factor when focusing on improving  your health.

So if its because you want to look better, feel better or just to become healthier, its time to start your exercise journey today.  If you are not sure where to begin, aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day.  Join a gym to get a more hands on approach with professional guidance, or even going for a brisk walk around the neighbourhood is a good place to start.

If you haven’t worked out for some time or have any chronic health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes or hypertension be sure to contact your doctor before starting any exercise program.  Don’t let anything get in the way of becoming the happier healthier you, and be the face of fitness you’ve always wanted to see.
